I love being outside!, not only to view the night sky, but also to go birding! There a some awesome places
 to go locally and depending on the season, you can see some amazing species. Check out some of my favorite
 places to go and don't forget to let me know some of yours!! Don't forget your binoculars and Bird Guide !

• Cleveland Metro Parks  You can head out on your own and explore the metroparks or you can sign up for free tours that will teach you the various species and other fascinating things about birding. Start at the nature center, and pick up a free bird list, so you can check off all of your sightings ! Here is a list of the metroparks and partners to help find the one closest to you.

• Sandy Ridge – Lorain County – Great Birding adventures here a Sandy Ridge. Here is a list of breeding birds at Sandy Ridge. Wildlife is not confined to birds. Muskrats are well populated in the wetland as evident by the haystack-like homes they make. Other wildlife includes deer, raccoon, coyote, and mink. Check out the Eagle’s Nest through the on-site telescope!

• The Biggest Bird Week in North West Ohio – The Warbler Capital of the World !!! Every year in May, bird enthusiasts from all over the world, come to Ohio for this event. This year my bird species count was 125 !

• Magee Marsh – is situated on the southern shore of Lake Erie, and is a prime stopover for North American Warblers during spring migrations. Every year thousands of birder, photographers and nature lovers flock to this location in the spring to witness the unforgettable spectacle of large songbird concentrations preparing to migrate across Lake Erie toward their breeding grounds in the north. Magee Marsh is just one of those special places that you have to come back to year after year.

• Lorain County Metroparks – All of our parks are good places to view wildlife and nature. Our most popular places for birding are Sandy Ridge Reservation, Columbia Reservation, Wellington Reservation , Lakeview Park, Bacon Woods at Vermillion River Reservation, and Black River Reservation. Each boast their own unique blend of birds and sometimes host rare visitors.

• Ottawa National Refuge – The National Wildlife Refuge System, within the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, manages a national network of lands and waters set aside to conserve America’s fish, wildlife, and plants.
