Avon Lake Star Parties

Join us as we hunt for shooting stars, look at the man in the moon and much more!
Our local astronomer Suzie Dills will be on hand with a telescope or two to show you what to look for.
Stop by to take a quick peek or bring a blanket and snacks and stay for a while. No registration required.
Free for the whole family!

What if it’s cloudy? Unfortunately, clouds will prevent the program from taking place.
If this is the case, we will have to cancel. But plan to attend the next one!
If weather is questionable check our Facebook page for updates: – No news is good news!!
2024 – Dates & Viewing Locations
Total Solar Eclipse To Do List:
1. Safety First – Get your eclipse glasses from an approved vendor. Eclipse.aas.org. City Hall has Avon Lake branded glasses from Rainbow Symphony for $3 each with discounts for 10 or more.
2. Gather Supplies – Don’t go out the day of the eclipse for groceries, gas, medications, etc. Plan ahead.
3. Have A Plan – Where are you going to watch it? Whether it is from your backyard or our Official Avon Lake Watch Party, know where the sun will be and if you will have a great view. If you have family and friends coming in to town to visit, where will they stay, where will they park, how will you entertain them for the weekend?
4. Learn More – Still have questions about why everyone is talking about the Eclipse? Why is being in Avon Lake on centerline so much better than being in an area with only 99% totality or less? What happens if it is cloudy? Why does Avon Lake have a better chance of clear skies than other nearby communities? Have questions about traffic, cell phones, emergencies? Register for our last Totality Talk and learn more from Astronomer – Suzie Dills, Recreation Director – Erin Fach, Avon Lake Police and Fire.
